Capture the Colour

Travel Supermarket is running Capture the Colour contest that asks blogger to post with a photo that captures the following 5 colours – Blue, Green, Yellow, White and Red. Sounds fun? Well I had fun picking the pictures!

BLUE

Casa Batlló, Barcelona

Casa Batlló, Barcelona

Casa Batlló is one of the two houses open to public designed completely by Anthoni Gaudi, the rock-star architect of Barcelona. He designed everything from tiles, windows, furnitures, down to the door handles! I’m a huge huge fan of his works – like the whole Barcelona is! The blue tiles showing in the picture is the central part of the house. Notice the different shades of blue from bottom to top.

GREEN

Pura Tirtha Empul, Bali

Pura Tirtha Empul, Bali

Balinese go to Pura Tirtha Empul for purification. With the greenish water and the green moss dominates the scenery and people being very hopeful and respectful in taking bath, Pura Tirtha Empul was a memorable place indeed. Like most people I know, I’m completely in love with Bali, with its strong culture, religion, and temples everywhere. I’m in temple haven when I’m in Bali!

YELLOW

ducklings, Sydney Easter Show

ducklings, Sydney Easter Show

Sydney Easter Show is the largest event held in Australia, starting from 1823. It comprises of agricultural show, amusement park, and fair, showcasing livestock and produce from all over the country. I’ve been there twice and had so much fun. These cute yellow ducklings were one of my highlights!

WHITE

changing guards, Athens

changing guards, Athens

The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the center of Athens refers to a grave in which the remains of an unidentified soldier are interred, dedicated to the common memories of all soldiers killed in any war. White-washed buildings are very prominent in the entire Greece, this tomb un-excepted. The changing guards happen every hour. Notice how their uniforms blend very well with the off-white building!

RED

red shop at red light district, Amsterdam

red shop at red light district, Amsterdam

This cute little everything-RED shop is in the Red Light district in Amsterdam (clever huh?). Red happens to be my favorite color, and we had such a good time in here. The lady owner was super nice too!

It actually took a while to pick these pictures. It is easy to pick something obvious, like the big blue sky, the green field, yellow flowers, or snow white.  But like the judges said, try to be more creative and come up with something that is unique (and hasn’t been done to death, I guess). So I hope I managed to do that to a degree.

Fun facts. It took me the longest to pick the yellow picture (and even now I’m still unsure about it). I have tons of yellow pictures, but it’s more because you often get yellow-ish photos in low light (doh!). The easiest for me is red picture. I do have tons of red pictures and the hardest part was to pick one!

You have until 29th of August to enter the competition too if you’d like! Good luck all!
