The City of Arts and Sciences, Valencia

The City of Arts and Sciences (Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias) in Valencia, Spain

I’m not usually a huge fan of new buildings, so this time Mighty Mona was the one more excited about visiting this place when we reached Valencia. We’ve been seeing pictures of the buildings off the Internet, and we have built some kind of expectation about what pictures we were going to take.

So when we arrived in a misty winter morning and saw the worst lighting ever for photography (that is very flat washed-out almost non-existent sunlight), admittedly we were disappointed, and went around rather half-heartedly.

But when I came back home and checked out the photos on my laptop, they actually look quite decent. The buildings are not bathed in the golden sunlight, there’s no sunset, and no night lights, but there’s a certain appeal about plain shapes and patterns of this funky architecture.

I further washed the photos out with bluish cold tone. What do you think? (as always, click to enlarge)

I left home when I was 17 and never stop exploring the world since. Most days I'm a digital technician at one of the London's biggest visual effects studio. My alternate persona writes and travels and dreams of doing these as a living. I alternately call myself Indonesian or Australian whichever is more beneficial at the time, and I've been a Londoner since 2011.
